SITAPUR, India – Police in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, have arrested a quack doctor in connection with the death of a 14-year-old girl who allegedly received improper medical treatment at an illegal clinic. The arrest follows a swift investigation into the incident that occurred on August 15, 2026.
The arrested individual has been identified as Mohd Sameer, son of Mohd Salim, a resident of Dhondhi Para, Talgaon, Sitapur, currently operating 'Sameer Medical Store' in Bisenda, Manpur. Authorities stated that Sameer was operating an illegal clinic without proper medical qualifications.
Incident Details
According to police, on August 15, 2026, around 2 p.m., 14-year-old Alki, daughter of Ram Kishore of Bisenda, Manpur, was taken to Sameer Medical Store by her mother, Mamta, for treatment of high fever and chills. Mohd Sameer allegedly administered injections and intravenous fluids (glucose) to the girl. Following the treatment, Alki's condition rapidly deteriorated. Sameer reportedly asked the family to take the child home, disclaiming responsibility.
By approximately 4:30 p.m., the girl's condition worsened significantly, prompting her family to rush her to CHC Biswan, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Legal Action and Further Investigation
A case has been registered under relevant sections, including Case No. 154/2026, with charges under Sections 105, 352, 351(2) BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), 3(2)V SC/ST Act, and 34(2) of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019.
Sitapur Superintendent of Police, Ankur Aggarwal, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the matter. Additional Superintendent of Police (North) Alok Singh and Circle Officer Biswan, Harshit Chauhan, are overseeing the operation. The Manpur police team, led by Station Officer Santosh Kumar Singh, Sub-Inspector Tribhuvan Singh, Head Constable Shivshankar, and Head Constable Yaduveer Singh, made the arrest.
Authorities have warned of stringent legal and administrative actions, including:
- Investigation of Illegal Assets: A thorough financial investigation will be conducted into movable and immovable properties acquired by the accused through illegal medical practice, with potential seizure or demolition as per law.
- Review of Past Cases: Detailed information will be gathered regarding previous instances of alleged malpractice by the accused and complaints from other patients, leading to supplementary legal action.
- Crackdown on Quack Doctors: A widespread campaign is underway in coordination with police and health departments to identify and shut down all illegally operating quack doctors and fake clinics across Sitapur district.
Police stated that no illegal operator endangering public health and innocent lives will be spared. The arrested accused is being presented before the honorable court for necessary legal proceedings.
